There are four steps to setting up CoolCart for doing your shipping by weight.

1) Set up your profile for weight
2) enter a price table in your company profile
3) enter the weight in the Weight Value= for each product in your web page
4) set up ship regions and ship methods

Your Wonderful Product
Price - $10
Weight - 16 ounces (1 lb)
1-32 ounces (1-2 lbs) is $3.20
33-48 ounces (2-3 lbs) is $4.30
49-64 ounces (3-4 lbs) is $5.40
65 ounces and over (5 lbs and over) is 10%
Quantity
Try adding different quantity and see the shipping price change.

Qty of 1 and 2 will be 3.20 shipping
Qty of 3 will be 4.30 shipping
Qty of 4 will be 5.40 shipping
Qty of 5 will be 8.00 shipping
Ex. 5 x 16 (oz.) = 80 x 10% = 8.00

Qty of 10 will be 16.00 shipping
Ex. 10 x 16 (oz.) = 160 x 10% = 16.00

The weight can be any unit such as ounce, pound, gram, etc. Make sure weight type is consistent through out your site.

PRICE TABLE:

This is what a price table might look like in your company profile based on ounces.
option1=1,32,3.20
option2=33,48,4.30
option3=49,64,5.40
option4=65,5000000,10%

This will mean:
1-32 ounces (1-2 lbs) is $3.20
33-48 ounces (2-3 lbs) is $4.30
49-64 ounces (3-4 lbs) is $5.40
65 ounces and over (5 lbs and over) is 10%

You can enter this table from "Edit Profile" under "Shipping - Weight Table.

SHIP REGIONS

CoolCart takes the shipping values in the shopping cart and uses the shipping region's multiplication factor for additional charges.

A sample ship region table:

U.S. - Ground=3.20,1
U.S. - 3 day select=6.40,2
U.S. - Overnight=12.80,4
Off the U.S. Coast=6.40,2
Overseas by Ocean Liner=19.20,6
Overseas by by Air=25.60,8

For example U.S. - 3 day select=6.40,2 - The 6.40 is the minimum and the 2 is the multiplication factor. Therefor, it will cost twice as much for U.S. - 3 day select than U.S. Ground.

Scenario:
Let's say all the Weight Values added to your cart added up to 32 oz. (2 lbs.) CoolCart would look at your price table and see it is between 1 and 32 oz. option1=1,32,3.20 so it would come up with these total shipping prices for U.S. - Ground and U.S. - 3 day select and U.S. - Overnight.

U.S. - Ground = 3.20 x 1 (factor) = $3.20
U.S. - 3 day select = 3.20 x 2 (factor) = $6.40 shipping cost
U.S. - Overnight = 3.20 x 4 (factor) = $12.80 shipping cost
